Follow-up to my post on AI: it seems that while AI models rifle through the haystack of information that is the Internet, they create more hay. A recent article in Nature, more accessibly summarized in Tech Crunch, describes how AI adds to the information it is searching. What it adds is the “most popular” of what is already there, making that seem still more popular, until all that is left is what was most popular in the initial round.
